About Generate Zalgo Text
Generate Zalgo Text adds combining marks above, through, and below normal characters to create distorted glitchy text. You can control how intense the effect is, which mark areas are used, and whether each character uses all selected areas or only one of them.
How It Works

Real-World Usage Scenarios
- Horror Storytelling - ARGs - Enhance immersive horror narratives or Alternate Reality Games (ARGs) by transforming standard dialogue into distorted, eldritch speech that visually represents madness or supernatural corruption.
- Social Media Branding - Profiles - Stand out on platforms like Discord, Instagram, and TikTok by creating 'glitch-style' usernames or bios that break standard vertical boundaries and grab immediate visual attention.
- Digital Art - Glitch Aesthetic - Integrate corrupted text into graphic design projects, album covers, or vaporwave-themed art to simulate system errors and digital decay without using heavy image assets.
- Gaming Nicknames - Competitive Play - Customize in-game identifiers for titles like Roblox or Minecraft with unique 'cursed' text that remains selectable and functional across most modern gaming engines.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Zalgo text a special font?
No. It utilizes standard Unicode combining diacritical marks. These are small symbols designed to be stacked on top of, through, or below base characters, meaning the text is still readable by most systems.
Why does the text look different on different platforms?
Different rendering engines handle vertical overflow differently. While Discord and Twitter usually show the full chaos, some apps may truncate or 'clip' the marks to prevent them from overlapping other lines of text.
Can screen readers interpret Zalgo text?
Generally, no. Accessibility tools and screen readers often struggle with Zalgo because they attempt to announce every individual combining mark, which can result in a long and confusing audio string.
Will using this text crash my browser?
Modern browsers are highly optimized for Unicode. However, setting the chaos range to extreme levels (hundreds of marks per character) can cause minor lag on older mobile devices during the rendering process.
